Dr. Tortorici practiced general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry at this same location from 1988-2000 and provided excellent service to his patients. Dr. Tortorici graduated from UAB School of Dentistry in 1956 afterwhich he served two years as an Air Force captain in Germany. He served all offices in the Birmingham District Dental Society including president and was in the society when fluoride was introduced to Birmingham's water supply. He also served all chairs, including prresident, in Alabama's Academy of General Dentistry and the Alabama Dental Association. Since 1962, "Dr. T" has been and still is active in the Birmingham Society for Advanced Dentistry, and in 1970 became a member of the Alabama Implant Study Group, one of the first dental implant study groups in the country.
Dr. T says he is "one of those people that constantly requires an artistic outlet." He used dentistry for this but also continues painting in oil and watercolor. With his musical talents, he played baritone saxophone with "Baker Knight and the Nightmares" helping put himself through dental school. He also sung a resonant bass with the same group and in barbershop quartets.
Dr. Tortorici is presently enjoying a well deserved retirement He visits and consults with the office on a regular basis.
